OK, I am willing to actually buy fonts. Does anyone know of the best deal out there? I want as many fonts for the least amount of money (hey who wouldn't).

I wouldn't mind going to buy them at CompUSA or something but I don't want to find out later there was a better deal so that's why I am checking here first.

thanks

Hi, which fonts are you looking for? On usenet they post regulary fonts and over the year I've collected some 40.000 (3.5 gig)
I use http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ to see what font I need and till now that goes perfect.
If you like I can post all of them again on usenet.

That's a lot of fonts. I don't know what I want until I go to use them. I edit covers and make labels so I need a variety to choose from. If you could post them that would be great.

Thanks

Right now for example I am looking ofr a good Looney Tunes Font so I can make some labels for The Golden Collection. Not just the ttile but I need a font for Volume 1 Disc 1 and so on that looks right and I don't have any. It always slows my work down when I have to look for fonts so instead of doing a label in 15 or 20 minutes it can take an hour or more just because I can't find the right font. Sometimes I end up putting the project on the back burner and never finsih it all because I can't find a font that fits.

Hi, the best brands has a few looney tunes eps'

I'm not familiar with cartoon fonts, but I'll see if I can find something tonight. In the mean time I'll post what fonts I have. Any preference for a newsgroup? Boneless, comp? I don't know which ones you can access.

You'll need 3 programs. A newsreader, winrar and quickpar.
Here you can get trail versions.
http://www.newsleecher.com/
http://www.download.com/3000-2250-10007677.html
http://www.quickpar.org.uk/index.htm

In newsleecher you've to give the adress of your providers newsserver. If you've got it working, get all de groups and see if you can get alt.test or alt.binaries.test. Let me know

Just in case your provider does't have a newsserver you can get a 3day trail here
http://www.giganews.com/
that should be enough to get the 2.2 gig
or if you're willing to spend money here
http://www.exit109.com/~jeremy/news/providers/providers.html
Pricy over there, in Holland it's cheaper and no download limits

Great, can you access alt.binaries.test or alt.binaries.test.yenc?
Keep in mind you need some free space. The post is 2.2 gig, unpacked 3.5, so you need about 6 gig free space.
Soon as we got a group I'll start the upload, that will take some 13 hours.
See if you can find out how the retention of your newsserver is. Get the headers from a group, for example alt.binaries.test.yenc and see how far back it goes. 12 hours, 4 days, 30 days? It's all new for you so if you got any question, just ask.

The post runs, if everything goes well it takes 8 hours
Made a crosspost of it in alt.binaries.test and alt.binaries.test.yenc
Header "50000 fonts" filename "Fonts"
If you're impatient you can get the headers and start or wait 10 hours and then get the nzb file which is a lot easier.

Post is ready, not everything is there yet, but it's bedtime here.
You can check here
http://www.binsearch.info/?q=50000+fonts&max=25&adv_age=7&server=
over 2 hours, then it's probably complete, push search again, if complete
mark the collection- create NZB - safe somewhere - open newsleecher - tab download queue - import NZB file - import the file you saved - click connect. (download the incomplete ones too)
When you have all the files, dubbleclick the Fonts.par2 file. Quickpar check if its ok, if not it tells you how many block you miss. There are the
Fonts.vol003+04.PAR2 etc. for. +04 means 4 blocks in the file. When you have enough blocks, dubbleclick Fonts.par2 again - repair. If thats done, dubbleclick Fonts.part01.rar and let winrar unpack the stuff and then you should have a few fonts

ps you can start now, make the nzb, load it and delete the incompletes in the queue and make a few hours later a new nzb and delete from that file the ones you already have, good luck

Got them with no need for repair. That is a lot of fonts.

Do you install them all or do you install them when you need them?

I can see already I will have a lot of fonts to choose from to do labels.

thanks for everything from the fonts to helping me download them

Don't install all of them. In one of the folders is the program fontnavigartor you can install that. Then burn the fonts to a dvd, which you can check with fontnavigator. If you find one you need, copy to hd and install
I try to isolatate the tekst I need in photoshop and then upload a jpg on
http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/
and see if they can find it, if not there's a newsgroup alt.binaries.fonts
where you can ask, nice people there.

If anyone would like to add fonts to the Resource page I can set up an FTP so you can upload them to me and then I will upload them for you. For some reason members have difficulty uploading to the Resource page.

don't worry, my mum always said; help anyone you can and don't expect something back, when you're in trouble it's the one you least expect from who's helping you.
