I had something novel happen to me yesterday, for the first and only time. I've heard of people needing to give a nudge to the disc tray to get it to print, but I had just the opposite thing happen yesterday. the printer yanked the tray like it was possessed and slammed it in hard against the back of the printer. I mean it went in fast! zip! freaked me out a little, like a printer demon was laughing at me. tried it again and no problem, but it worried me a little.

Anyone else ever have this happen?

Not had it go in fast but had it drive in and out the other side Shocked
It was caused by an end stop switch not working

I BELIEVE ITS GOT SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE THIN CLEAR PLASTIC STRIP AT FRONT OF TRAY, IF IT IS DAMAGED IN ANY WAY IT CAUSES PROBLEMS LIKE THIS...

I wouldn'tworry about buying the printer. It's an excellent printer and I'm very happy with it. Just one of those freak occurences, I guess.

It's happened to me a few times now. In fact the first time I used it I thought I'd broke it I pushed the tray in whilst the printer wasn't ready for it...didn't leave enough room at the back of the printer and whoooosh it smacked into the wall. Fortunately didn't break it but I had to move the printer away from the wall a bit to get the tray fully out, obviously left more room at the back of the printer from then on Rolling Eyes

Here is something I posted in another thread about the Epson R200-300 tray not working correctly because of broken or
damaged plastic end tabs on the tray. I have also had the tray fly all the way through the printer and out the back it
just happens like that sometimes it doesn't hurt anything nothing to worry about unless the tray hits the wall Shocked There is
a guy selling new trays on ebay that has solid tabs on the end of the tray I guess it is maybe what Epson is going to start
putting in with the newer printers I hope so anyway.

Here is the link to the new trays I'm going to buy one of them pretty soon. Very Happy

had the tray go zoom a couple of times on both my r200's but it dont cause a problem

as for nudging the tray i was told by epson its when the tray gets worn and dont pull in properly you can either keep nudging or buy a new tray. i now have two trays for each printer and have to nudge them all. not going to get a new tray again cos i am in the habit of nudging and would still do it to a new tray

$15 bucks on Ebay but how much is the replacement tray going for in the stores? Or do you need to special order it?

Having the same problem was wondering if anyone had taken the plastic strip at the front of the tray off does that make a difference?

glad to hear I'm not alone on this, and that there's no report of any damage done. I've been trying to get an idea on replacement trays and their cost for when the time comes, but the stores around here basically don't have trays only. Did the ebay tray turn out OK?

cochese, might be too early to say as I didn't have any probs with the factory tray for a while either. I'd love to hear how the ebay tray works after some heavy use though! Very Happy

For those of you in the Uk a new tray can be got directly from epson, ordered one yesterday for on £10 (inc P&P) just waiting for it to arrive, will let you know if its a new style one or still the same as the ond ones, their number is the uk web site.

Got the new tray, and yes its the new style, and my printer now ejects the tray again, but i still have to give it a nudge to load it, oh well at least i can leave the computer after setting it to print now, safe in the knoledge that my printer is not going to throw a strop when its finished printing as it has been doing for the last month.

wilf, mine is doing that now too. A nudge to go in, and a tug to come out. It's a very minor inconvenience, but I'd still like to have a tray that doesn't do it.

If any of you guys report ongoing suceess after some use with the new trays I'd love to hear about it.
