This Thursday the 8th, I will be having my gall bladder removed. I will be holding an auction for them and the proceeds will go towards the repairs and upgrades the Boss has been saving for. Starting bid for the bladder is $7.00 U.S. The stones will start at $5.00. Come on folks, it's for a good cause.

I'm back from the hospital. It feels like I've been run over by a bus. I can't imagine what it must have felt like to have this operation 20 years ago. They made 3 small incisions. One in the belly button to inflate the abdominal cavity with Carbon Dioxide. Another for the camera, and the third for instruments to clamp, cut, and extract. To finish the procedure, they use a type of super glue to close the incisions. Unfortunately, due to the unique stones that were in my gall bladder, they were immediately sent to a laboratory for analysis. I was told they would not be returned. They did provide me with a picture.

Thanks tk. I'll tell you what's killing me right now. Everytime I read Loady's post about the spleen, I start cracking up and boy does it hurt to laugh right now.

Thanks BB. The doctor (Doc Painless) said once they remove the gall bladder, there are no food restrictions. Eat and drink what you want. Approx. 3 hours out of the recovery room they gave me a turkey and vegetable dinner, a bread roll, a patty of margarine, a small carton of milk and some Jello. Love that hospital food. The food restriction applies to folks that do not or are waiting to have it removed. But even then it may not have an effect on the attacks that the stones cause. I had one bout of severe stomach cramps and 3 minor attacks in the 4 months I've known about my problem and the type of food did not play a role. Once I only had a glass of water before work and had a minor attack. The difference can depend on the size of the stones. The large stones kind of just move around while the small ones (pea size) block the bile duct. As you can see from the picture I was lucky I had the large ones.

Lol, interesting idea Wink

I had the same surgery about 3 years ago and my attacks were definetly caused by eating fatty foods. About 10-12 hours after eating a really greasy meal (like all you can eat Pizza Hut greasy), I would get a really severe attack. Painful as hell!

Glad it is out now so I can go back to eating all that greasy food (mmm)

Funny stuff guys. At least it doesn't hurt to laugh now. Otherwise I'd be in an ambulance taking me back to the hospital from the pain.

Thanks annarere.
