Backing Up Your Bookmarks?

Hello!

I'm thinking about doing a system restore here soon. I'd really like to be able to save all my bookmarks in Mozilla Firefox. Is there an easy way to export them to a folder (burn them to CD), then import them back into Firefox, without having to go to each site again?

But I was a little confused. It shows you how to save/export them. But I wasn't sure if it was as simple as just importing the file, then bam, they're back into your newly installed Firefox browser.

Any help would be great, links or otherwise.

Thats the way I read it, just rename the file to .html and import when you're up and running again. Looks easy enough.

i've done it before in IE...so i'm assuming it's just as easy in FF.

I've done it a few times with Firefox......Bookmarks>>organise bookmarks>>select all>>file>>>export.
Saves as an HTML file,to import....bookmarks>>>organise bookmarks>>>file>>import(from file),point to your saved file,and hey presto!

Alternatively, you can just copy your bookmark file from the profile folder. You can find it here:

E:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\840nqd7d.slt\bookmarks.html

Then, when you re-install, just copy the file back to the profile directory (once the profile is created).

I've been using a freeware program called MozBackup. It will backup and reinstall everything from Mozilla, Firefox and Thundrbird. This is a program you need when performing a clean install or installing a mirrored hard drive.
